With more and more people using social media, it’s important to share your content to various platforms and use the most appropriate tools for the job.
A new blog post? Share it on Twitter
A link to a great article? Post on LinkedIn
And while social media is the perfect platform for sharing links to articles, one factor that can make content promotion challenging is staying up to date on multiple streams.
That’s where IFTTT (If This Then That) becomes a lifesaver. IFTTT integrates with Buffer, Hootsuite and Twitter, so when you post an update on one of these channels that you want shared to other networks, IFTTT takes care of it. You can also subscribe to RSS feeds or a WordPress channel in order to monitor changes from your favorite blogs.
There are many ways you can use IFTTT to automate sharing your blog posts on social media. Here are some simple steps how to set up the system.
Create an account with IFTTT if you don’t have one Add your social media accounts (Facebook) (Twitter) (LinkedIn) (Pinterest) (Hootsuite) (Buffer)
Go to the Channels tab under ‘My Recipes’, then click on ‘Add.’ Choose your Social Media Channels; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Hootsuite and Buffer.
Connect all of your channels. Fill in the Social Media Channel Title field with the name of the potential customers/users on that particular channel you want to speak to. For example: I want to reach out to new moms about my freelance content writing services, so I will enter ‘New Moms’ in the field.
Next, fill in the Name of the recipe field with the name of the post you want to post. For example: I want to send out a tweet about my post ‘7 Great Ways to Generate More Leads With Your Blog’ when a new post is published.Fill in the Description field with a brief explanation of the content of the post. For example: I have written a blog post on how to increase traffic to your blog and it’s published on my blog. I want to send out a tweet with a link to the blog post.
Select the Triggers tab under ‘My Recipes’ and add a new trigger. For example, I will use ‘If This Then That’ to automatically tweet the post I have written about the 7 Ways to Generate More Leads With Your Blog when a new post is published.
Choose ‘Create Recipe.’ Your post will now be automatically shared to your social media channels.
